We innovate…We invent…We
are Mee Too The Original Mee Too™ Cloth-covered Coozie began as most endearing things in my life do, serendipitously. After college, I returned to the rolling hills of Central Alabama’s Black Belt, started teaching Kindergarten and married my husband Emmett. A couple of years after our daughter Tindall was born, I was making small change bags for a friend to use as hostess gifts. Not satisfied with the results, I tossed one on the kitchen table. That afternoon, my sister walked in, looked down and said simply “is that a coozie cover?” Without a blink, I said, “Why yes it is!” For the next six months, I made cloth-covered coozies and sold them to stores around town on consignment. All I did was teach, sew, sleep and be Mom. By Christmas of 2005, I was exhausted. On the way to our community’s annual Holiday House bazaar, with my friend, the hostess, I mentioned a few symptoms I’d recently had. She said she felt the same way with her first child. I nearly wrecked! Pregnant? That had not been one of my diagnoses. Pregnant! Like I said, life is a series of fortuitous accidents. With a full-time job, a 4-year-old and another child on the way; I decided it was now or never and in March of 2006, the Original Cloth-Covered Coozie made its first appearance at the Atlanta Gift Show. That was it, the coozie covers were a great success. I took a leap of faith and a leave of absence from teaching, partnered with my husband and created Mee Too, LLC. Name after my two grandmothers, Mamee and Mama Too, with the two flowers representing our two girls, Tindall and Emme. Now, we produce a wide variety of functional products in a rainbow of custom colors and fabrics. I still think about that day in the kitchen, when I threw down a half-sewn mistake and picked up an opportunity. Thank you serendipity and thank you to all that have ever purchased a Mee Too™ product. Without you, none of this would be possible. |
